About us

Our story
Founded in 1969, Le Ruedo is today the oldest Spanish restaurant still operating in Geneva. From its early days, it quickly became a key meeting place for the newly arrived Spanish community in Geneva—a true landmark where flavours and memories of home came together.
For Javier, becoming the owner of Ruedo was a dream: taking over this iconic place and continuing its tradition of authentic Spanish cuisine he held so dear. In 1999, that dream became reality with the help of his wife, Maria.
For 25 years, they have run Ruedo with passion, serving generous, sincere cuisine faithful to tradition, while nurturing the warm, family spirit that still defines the restaurant today.
In 2026, Xavier, son of Javier and Maria, takes over Ruedo. After 15 years working in the dining room, close to guests and at the heart of the restaurant’s daily life, he continues the family story alongside his team, with the same passion and respect for Ruedo’s history.
